Eli R. Sochia, 97, of Hopkinton passed away on Friday October 27, 2023 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital

Eli was born in St. Regis Falls to the late Edson and Hattie (Caskinette) Sochia on September 25, 1926.

A marriage to Shirley Stacey blessed him with six children.

He married Barbara M. Berdow on April 27, 1973. They celebrated 39 years of marriage until Barbara passed on December 29, 2012.

He was a member of the United States Army.

He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Operating Engineers for many years.

Eli belonged to the East Brook Hunting Club, and the Masonic Lodge of (?). He was also a member of the Red Tavern Sportsman's Club. ??

Eli is survived by his children, a son of Potsdam, a son and wife of Hopkinton, a daughter and husband of Dekalb Junction, a son and wife of Potsdam, a son and wife of Parishville, and a daughter of Madrid, his five step-children and their spouses of North Lawrence, Juneau, AK, Dickinson Center, St. Regis Falls, Massena, and his siblings; two sisters and a brother. Also surviving Eli is a legacy of 25 grandchildren, as well as many great-grandchildren, and even some great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, siblings, and two grandsons Jordan and Ian predeceased him.

Laid to rest in Forest Cemetery in St. Regis Falls.
