Charles F. Ackerman, 72, of Dallas and Kemp, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 due to complications of bronchitis which he bravely battled for some years. Arrangements include cremation with interment at the National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, as well as at Bois d'Arc Ranch in Peeltown. A memorial service and celebration of Charles' life will be held at a later date.

Despite the challenges with his health, Charles led a full life enjoying his family, career in accounting, ranching raising Black Angus Cattle. He was a man known for his kind heart and integrity. Charles was born in Houston on Sept. 12, 1945. He spent most of his growing up years living in Pope Mill Community near Hillister. He met Betty, his wife of 52 years, when they were in the fifth grade in Woodville. Charles and Betty graduated from Kirby High School in 1964 and married in the summer of 1965.

Charles earned a BBA from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. He served in the U.S. Navy, he returned to SFA for graduate work in accounting in 1975, Charles accepted an accounting position with Mobil Oil in Dallas. In 1987, he started an accounting practice, and he took pleasure in working with his clients over a period of three decades. Charles was a member of the National Society of Tax Professionals and the National Society of Accountants.

Charles was predeceased by his father, Charles George Ackerman; his mother, East Lamb Collier; his step-father, E.D. (Suggs) Collier and his mother and father-in-law Opal Szanto Blohm and Arthur M. Blohm.

He will be greatly missed by his canine friends Golda and Squirt.

Memorials may be made to National Jewish Hospital in Denver or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
