JOS. SWEARINGEN DIES IN LA PLATA
-FUNERAL AND BURIAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT LOCUST HILL SUNDAY
Joseph Swearingen, aged about 37 years, died at his home here in West La Plata, Friday morning, Jan. 25 after an illness of four weeks.
Mr. Swearingen took cold working during the big fire here which occurred on Christmas Day and later developed pneumonia, and passed away just four weeks from the day of his first illness.
The family moved here just a few months ago from a farm east of town and recently bought property in West La Plata, and they have made many friends here who will be sorry to learn of his death.
He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Edyth Jeffries; one daughter and two sons, Waneta, Wayne and Jay; also his mother, Mrs. J.H. Davis of Hannibal; two sisters; one half-brother and one half-sister; together with a number of friends who are left to mourn his departure.
The body was taken to Locust Hill last Friday evening to the home of Mrs. Swearingen's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Jeffries, and the funeral services were held at the Locust Hill Church Sunday afternoon.
Interment was made in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
