Carroll Verne Strout, 81, passed away after a long illness on October 19, 2023 at Marshall Health Facility, Machias, Maine. He was born in Plymouth, New Hampshire September 29, 1942, son of Verne Caywood and Sarah Strout.
He grew up in Milbridge and graduated from Milbridge High School 1961 and graduated from Husson College, Bangor, ME. and received his B.S. Degree in Business Administration in 1966.
He started his career in PA. and then moved back to Maine in 1972.
He is predeceased by his parents, and his sisters Jeannette Strout and Judy Sprague.
Carroll was raised Master Mason on November 11, 1967, Milbridge Masonic Lodge, Pleiades No. 173, Milbridge, ME.
Carroll enjoyed spending time at the hunting camp in Exeter for many years hunting with the guys. In the past few years, he enjoyed writing The Olde Duck Hunter articles for County Wide. He always ended the article with: "Well folks, that was the way it was, another time, another story. Just remember one thing; no matter what life bestows upon us; the smoke will go up the chimney just the same".
A celebration of life will be held on November 18, 2023, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the Columbia Town Hall, 106 Epping Road, Columbia, ME 04623.
Buriel will be in the Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, Maine.
