Eva Mozelle Messer Rathbone, 96, of Panther Creek went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Elidge and Callie Franklin Messer; She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband Lewis Rathbone; brothers Hughes, Jerry, Horace, Lawson, and Amos; sisters Ina, Lona, Mae Burr, Laura, Annie Lou, and Faye; one grandson Anthony McElroy; and a daughter in-law Donna.
Eva was best known for her passion toward others and the heart she had for everyone that she knew. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church; Eva loved going to church and getting to sing. She loved her children, grandchildren, and spending time out gardening. She will always be remembered by her great sense of humor and her smile.
Eva is survived by her loving children Judy Messer, Neal McElroy, and Eugene McElroy; grandchildren Kristie Messer Payne (Michael), Jessica McElory; great grandchildren Max and Callie Keener; two great-greatgrandchildren Kimberly and Harper; and lots of Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm, October 1, 2023, at Liberty Baptist Church with Ronald Greene, Jerry Nelson, and Stacy Hightower officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
