Obituary

Emmett Carlton Drake, son of Ellwood [Elwood Strawbridge] and Sarah [Frances Eaton] Drake, was born at Blockton, Iowa, April 15, 1883, and died at the Medical & Surgical Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, Nov. 11, 1930, at the age of 47 years, 6 months and 26 days.

He was united in marriage to Mary K. [atherine] Ogle April 20, 1904. One daughter, Roberta Mardell, was born to this union.

They moved to Montana soon after their marriage where they lived six years. They then moved to Nebraska where they lived 16 years. While living at Alliance, Nebraska, he was converted and joined the Methodist church. They later went to Natalia, Texas, where the remainder of his life was spent.

He is survived by his wife, daughter and her husband, father and mother, two brothers, A. [rthur] O. [wen] Drake of Friona, Texas, and Elbert W. [ade] of Blockton; also two sisters, Mrs. Belle Brown of Henry, Nebraska, and Mrs. Florence [Eleanor] Minor of New Market. One sister preceded him in death.

Besides the immediate family he leaves a large circle of friends to mourn his departure.

He was a member of the Odd Fellow, Rebekah and Masonic orders.

Funeral services were held at the Blockton Methodist church Friday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the pastor. Rev. W. H. Warrior. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery, Blockton.
