James Otis Farmer, who departed from this world on October 23, 2023.

Born on November 13, 1932, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Jim embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned nearly nine decades. On November 12, 1951, he joined hands in matrimony with his beloved wife, Anna Spratt Farmer, and together they shared 52 years of marriage until her passing on December 16, 2003.

Jim dedicated 47 years of his life to Modern Welding, where he rose through the ranks to become a respected foreman. Not only was he a skilled craftsman but also a dedicated mentor. Over the years, he imparted the gift of literacy to numerous coworkers.

His welding torch crafted a multitude of creations, from swing set frames to handrails, vanities, shelves, and unique signs.

A member of Third Street Baptist Church, Jim had also been associated with Seven Hills Baptist Church and Hall Street Baptist Church. His faith remained a steadfast anchor throughout his life.

Jim was preceded in death by his children, Mike Farmer (February 24, 2001) and Terri Bowman (December 8, 2010), as well as his parents, Otis and Goldie Milam Farmer. He is now reunited with his siblings, William Farmer, Gertrude Matlock, Betty Rutherford, and Helen Soukenik, along with his stepbrother, Hubert Farmer, and half-brother, Laymon Milam.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jim was an avid race car driver for 35 years, from 1952 to 1987, participating in events at Windy Hollow Speedway, Kentucky Motor Speedway, and Beech Bend Raceway Park. He was a devoted fan of NASCAR and basketball, having also played the sport during his school years. His love for WWE Wrestling and Westerns provided countless hours of entertainment and joy.

Above all, Jim's heart swelled with pride and joy from the moment his great-granddaughter, Skyler, came into this world. She became the reason for his zest for life, and he reveled in the pride of being her great-grandfather.

Jim's legacy is one of love, resilience, and a passion for family. His memory will forever remain etched in our hearts, a testament to a life well lived.
