Alberta Faye Shannon, 74, West Plains, MO, died April 16, 2008, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO. She was born Jan. 15, 1934, in West Plains, MO, to James Albert and Nellie Mae Cromer Morrison.
She graduated from West Plains High School in 1951, and on Aug. 15, 1953, was married at West Plains to Dexal Ray Shannon, who preceded her in death March 2, 1992.
Faye loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling, sewing and reading. She recently joined the Friends of the Library, was a past member of the DAR and served as a volunteer for many years at the Harlin Museum.
She had been a member of the First Christian Church and was a current member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Faye will be remembered by her wonderful sense of humor and her optimistic outlook on life.
She is survived by three children, Debra Lynn Pettit, husband, Steve; Sharon Raye Durham, husband, Dale; and Susan Marie York, husband, Brad; daughter-in-law, Brenda; nine grandchildren, Karen Woods, husband, Travis; J.B. Shannon; Terryl Pettit; Kirsten Pettit; Rachel Pettit; Rebecca Durham; Lindsey Durham; Kathryn Durham; and Sam York; two great-grandchildren, Harry Woods and Jake Woods; sister-in-law, Shirley Morrison; two nieces and one nephew, Lori Harris, Bobby Morrison and Tina Krysiak; many cousins; and countless friends.
Her parents; husband, son, Robert Michael; and brother, Robert "Bob" Morrison, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Friday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Funeral services will be April 19, 2008, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at Howell Valley Cemetery.
