Services For G. L. Stigler
Services were held Monday, August 31, at 2 p. m. from the Thweatt's Funeral Chapel in Cleveland for George L. Stigler, 66, who died of a heart attack. Burial was in the Drew cemetery.
Mr. Stigler, a native of Lexington, had lived in Drew for the past fifty years and was a retired planter and merchant.

Dr Shelton A Ramsey a physician of Drew Miss died In a hospital here early today of buckshot wounds received when It was alleged he was fired on en route to the home of a patient In Drew Saturday. G. E. Stigler, marshal of Drew, surrendered after the shooting and is being held on a charge of murder, according to advices from Drew. It was stated that Stigler declined to discuss the shooting other than to assert that it was the outgrowth of a dispute over a family matter.

Dr. Ramsey Killed at Drew. Dr. Ramsey, a practicing physician of Drew, was shot and. fatally wounded on tha main business street of the town last Saturday afternoon, by City Marshal Geo. Stigler, Stigler used a shotgun with buckshot and the wounded man fell to the side walk his left lung being pierced by the heavy shot. Dr. Ramsey user was placed on the north bound train and was taken to Memphis where an examination showed that he had no chance to recover. He died Sunday evening. Mr. Stigler, immediately after the shooting drove down to Indianola and was placed in jail by Sheriff Cox. It is said the cause of the shooting was not unexpected as we learn that Dr. Ramsey had been advised to leave Drew, and not return and Saturday was the first time he had been seen on the streets. Eminent local lawyers have been retained to defend Mr. Stigler and it is reported that the state will have the best lawyers obtainable to assist in the prosecution.
