Lydia Russell, 79, of Grand Island, Nebraska went to her heavenly home on October 21, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family.

Lydia was born in San Francisco, California to Annabelle (Bowman) Andrade and Robert Andrade.

She grew up in southern California where she loved the warm weather and fresh seafood.

She met a handsome Marine who was stationed in California after serving his country for a year in Vietnam. They fell in love and he convinced her to move from sunny California to McCook, Nebraska. They were united in marriage on November 25, 1967.

The couple made their home in Kearney for a short time then lived in Lincoln where she worked various jobs, and they raised their daughter, SaDonna (Russell) Manfull. It was never a quiet house but was full of love and great times.

Lydia spent her summers following her daughter around Nebraska and the surrounding states while she played softball. When that time ended, she continued to support her by watching her coach and umpire.

Lydia loved to spend time with her family and loved her grandkids, BaiLeigh & Brennin, more than words can ever express. She went from following her daughter to chasing her grandkids in all their activities which included volleyball, softball, bowling, band, and umpiring just to name a few. Lydia was extremely proud of both of her grandkids and all that they have accomplished.

Her family always came first, and her love and support of them will live on in their hearts forever.

Lydia's wishes were to be cremated with no service. Her ashes will be dedicated by family at a later date.

She is survived by her daughter SaDonna (Dave) Manfull, grandchildren BaiLeigh Leach and her fiancé Eric McCarthy, Brennin Leach and his girlfriend Addison Broz, and Sister-in-Law Connie Brewer.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 52 years Robert "Bob" Russell, parents Annabelle Wenstrom, Robert Andrade, and Step-Mother Hilda Andrade.
