On Monday, June 25, 2012, it is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Ferne C. Dale, of Myersville, Maryland. Her son Chris and his life partner Jeff were at her side as she passed peacefully, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, after a long battle from many medical issues. She was the proud and devoted mother of John Christopher Dale and the late Kevin Lee Dale. Kevin was taken from us by a drunk driver in July 1985. She is survived by two sisters Reta and Mary Ann, and four brothers Jack, Robert, James and Zane, and their spouses and children. In addition to her son, she is preceded in death by her parents Annie & Ralph Clayton, and a brother, Alfred. Ferne worked for Mr. Neil Whalen of Rockville, Md. for more than four decades. The acquaintances and friends she made along the way are too many to name. Her affection and dedication for the Whalen family was unwavering. We would like to say a special thank you to Linda Clayton. Your friendship to my mother was very special and she always referred to you as "that's my girl". Thank you for looking after her. We would also like to thank her sister Reta, although separated by thousands of miles, your nightly phone calls reassured her that you were always with her. You should both know she treasured your friendship. There is a void in our world now that will remain. Her presence, insight, wisdom and personal strength cannot be matched. We only take comfort knowing she is now without pain, holding her youngest son in her arms and with her devoted friend Popeye the Pug at her side. At this time there is no service planned.
