JIM COURTNEY

Jim Courtney, age 87, of Baker passed away on Monday, April 14, 2008, at North Okaloosa Medical Center. He was born in Harmony Church Community, Alabama, on May 12, 1920, and has been a life long resident of the Baker area. He was a member of Goodhope Congregational Church. Jim worked in the civil service for 25 years as a supply expediter. He also enjoyed farming.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Jewel Courtney; two brothers Pete Courtney and Jack Courtney; and two grandchildren Brian Courtney and Kenny Courtney. He is survived by his daughter Annette Whitlock and her husband Corky of Cleveland, TN; two sons, Ron Courtney of Apex, N. C. and Rick Courtney and his wife Elizabeth of Titusville, FL; two brothers, Bunk Courtney and his wife Sue and Johnnie Courtney; sister, Jeanette Henderson and her husband Charles all of Baker; grandchildren, Vicky, Jackie, Kevin, Keith, Dan, Darren, Kate, Kim, and Meghan; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Chauncey, Nick, Hayden, Brandy, and Austin.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2008 from 6-8 pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, April 18, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Good Hope Congregational Church with Reverend Joel Cordin and Dennis Courtney officiating. Burial to follow at Good Hope Congregational Church Cemetery. Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
