TAYLORSVILLE - Dec. 12 - The funeral of Mrs. Ella Cottingham Young was held here Saturday afternoon, Rev. I.M. Terwilliger of the Quincy M.E. Church officiating. Friends from all sections of the county were in attendance to pay their last respects to the memory of the beloved lady. Mrs. Young had been the victim of a lingering illness for many months and had received medical attention from numerous skilled physicians, but the end could not be warded off. She was able to make the trip from Sacramento to her home here, having arrived Monday evening and during the early part of Thursday afternoon, she was called to her heavenly home.
The deceased was one of the early pioneers of this valley, having come here from her native state of Illinois with her parents, the late James and Eliza Bell Cottingham, in 1864. In 1879, October 29th, she was united in marriage to the late J. C. Young and to this union three children were born, namely, Mrs. Marion Donnenwirth and C. E. Young, both of Taylorsville, and S. C. Young, district attorney of Plumas County who resides in Quincy, who are left to mourn the loss of a dearly beloved mother.
