Sytha was the oldest daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Bolinger) Kirk.

Sytha "Sisie" Kirk married Jonathan Loven McCarty on March 26, 1832 in Grainger County, TN. To this union six children were born James F M McCarty Elizabeth June McCarty, William Franklin Sanders McCarty, Thomas Loven McCarty Martha Angeline McCarty and Isaac Levi Sterling McCarty.

The spelling of her given name is unclear, on her marriage certificate its Sytha, In the 1850 mortality census of Greene County, MO its Cyntha and on her daughter's Martha Compton's death certificate its S Kirk. Her husband's brother, John W M McCarty spells it Cytha in an affidavit for Jonathan's civil War Pension.

She died of Cow or Con Feaver which may be a shortened name for Congestive fever an old name for Malaria. But I'm more inclined to believe it was Typhoid fever as it was a lot more common at the time of her death.

She does not have a headstone and Whitehead Cemetery is on private land.
