Joseph was born December 21, 1938 to the late Joseph Floyd Bennett and Clera Alice White Bennett in Manor. He graduated from Manor High School in 1957. He retired from Nokia Technologies, formerly Western Electric, after 45 years of service. He loved gardening and fishing, but his favorite was to travel.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Onna Musgrove.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Holmes Bennett of Jacksonville; three children, Kenny Bennett (Ginger) of Jacksonville, Carol Manser (Late C. J.) of California and Rebecca Englert (Cory) of Lake City, FL; eight grandchildren, Christina Irizarry (Sam), Joseph Manser, Ryan Bennett, Evan Bennett, Breanna Bennett, Isabel Englert, Naomi Englert and Lily Englert; two great grandchildren, Benjamin Irizarry and Grayson Irizarry; and three siblings, Wenton Bennett (Donna), Marion Bennett and Marie Hires.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday (October 28, 2023) at Music Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends the hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Homerville.
