PLANO - Martha Lou Henbest, 103, the second daughter and second of five children of the late, Thomas Jefferson and Emma Lou (Kennedy) Brown, and the widow of Orrin John Henbest, was born in Lindale, Texas and died peacefully with her family present on Sept. 5, 2023.

A homemaker all her life, she was an avid gardener and an accomplished seamstress. She was famous among her family and friends for her pear preserves and coconut cream pie. She was active in the Methodist church and the Eastern Star when she lived in Mineola, Texas.

Later in life she was a jigsaw puzzle fanatic who would press you into service during your visit. She was a beloved mother to two children, two stepchildren, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She attended Lindale, Texas public schools graduating in 1938.

Martha Lou and Orrin wed in 1968 and lived in Fort Worth and they spent their free time enjoying travel in North America and Europe.
Martha's first husband was Hubert Marshall Aaron, (married 1938, divorced 1966 and died 1975) who was father to their children Hubert Glendal Aaron (1941) and Carolyn Ann Goode (1944).

Martha is survived by her sister, Dorothy Muriel Niehaus; brother, Billy Marion Brown; stepdaughter, Rosemary Henbest Wong; stepson, John McMahon Henbest; son, Hubert Aaron; grandchildren, Jennifer Henbest, John Mark Henbest, Melissa Nicole Woodrow, William Mason Goode III, Christopher Thomas Goode, Emily Marie Lucas, and Martha Elizabeth Goode.

Funeral: 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, in Greenwood Chapel. Visitation: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service.
