Doris Bean Caldwell, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, and former long-time resident of Blytheville, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 while at home with her family. Mrs. Caldwell was born Doris Bean to parents Fred William Bean and Fostine Godwin Bean in Blytheville. She was a graduate of Blytheville High School and the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Following graduation from college, she worked as an airline stewardess for American Airlines and resided in Dallas, Texas until marriage to Chester Abbott Caldwell, Jr. After raising her children, she graduated from nursing school and later worked as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at Crittendon Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. She retired from nursing after working several years as a home health nurse. She was an avid reader who loved painting and gardening. She also loved her Siamese cats throughout the years, all named Pyewacket.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester A. Caldwell, Jr.; two sisters, Mary Lynn Bean Anderson and Martha Bean Hall; and long-time, dear and devoted friend Ida B. Clayborn. She is survived by daughters Catherine Caldwell Canale of Fairhope, Alabama, and Constance Caldwell Walker of Montgomery, Alabama; son Chester Abbott Caldwell, III of Abilene, Texas; grandsons Zachary David Caldwell (Catherine) of Scottsdale, Arizona; Samuel Abbott Caldwell of Abilene, Texas, and James Edward Walker, IV of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and sister Linda Bean Sullivan of Little Rock.
