Dennis Johnson was born 29 January 1754 in Kittery in what would eventually become the State of Maine. He is the son of James Johnson and Rebeka (Benson) Johnson. He married Mary Carter on 11 May 1779 while living in Kittery, Maine. Jul 1776 he enlisted and served in Captain J. Arnold and Grant's companies of Col. J. Wingate regiment, New Hampshire State Troops. He served under various other commanders in the service later in life. He died on 6 Jan 1836 in Waterboro, Maine and was buried at the Johnson Plot. Nathan Hale memorial record shows he could have a son Noah, and two daughters, Miriam and Polly.
