Giles Wayne, "Bubba", Cosper, age 86, was born September 12, 1937 in rural Bell County to Giles Buel "Putt" and Leona Cosper. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 13, 2023.

Wayne was born during the Great Depression and had poor and rough upbringing. He was raised and educated in Bell County, which is now known as southern Killeen. He took much pride in his family, working hard as a sharecropper to take care of his parents and siblings, as well as their friends and neighbors. As a young man, he learned many trades and how to fix most anything around the farm and construction sites. He became a professional painter and residential remodel expert, where he worked on restoring and flipping houses. He became a successful homebuilder in the 1960's, and began investing in apartments and land which later led him to developing properties.

His work ethic was absolutely unmatched his entire life. At first, he worked tirelessly just to survive and provide for the family, but as time went by, he saved every penny, took many risks and made wise investment decisions. He hardly ever took time to enjoy his success for himself, rather making sure everyone else's needs were met. Although his work ethic kept him very busy and sometimes took him away from time with family, he loved his family very much. He was so driven because he did not want any of his family members to experience the hardships that he knew so well. While many of his peers were enjoying the pleasures of life and relaxing, he remained focused on building up projects and investments. Wayne was philanthropic in supporting major initiative and causes around the area; he believed in supporting and giving back to his community.

He lost one of his daughters, Rebecca Lynn, in August 2000 when she was 36 years old. This hurt him deeply and grieved him until his passing. He stayed focus on his responsibilities at work as a way to grieve and after approximately two years, he recognized that he needed to fill the aching void in his heart and he returned to God, rejoined the church and became active supporting his Sunday School class and showing up early to provide breakfast for the servants of the church.

In his final years, Wayne truly believed that the best decision he ever made was marrying his Godly and loyal wife Arlene and investing his focus and time with the Lord, his church and his family. Wayne leaves behind a legacy in his family, friends and church family. To all that knew him, please know that he loved you. He was not a man of many words, but was always watching over and praying for you. He has endured much in his life but he never let that discourage him. He was always optimistic in business and believed that if you outworked your competition, you would surely succeed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Rebecca Lynn Moser, his sisters Joyce Carroll, Nell Lethco and Betty Langford, and his brother Larry Cosper.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Arlene Cosper, his sister, Gloria Mann, his brothers Don Cosper and Phil Cosper; his sons Kevin (Teresa) Cosper, Wayne Cosper Jr, and Scott (Christy) Cosper and his daughter Debbie (Brad) Dayvolt; his grandchildren Amanda Moser, Ashley Cosper, Alicia Cosper, Travis Moser, Brooke Spencer, Jonathan Moser, Taylor Cosper, Kaitlyn Cosper, and Cody Cosper; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 17 from 6-8 at Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services are on Wednesday, October 18 at 10am at Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Youngsport, Texas.
