Breckenridge - Formerly of Hamlin - Joe Andrew Hudspeth, 93, of Breckenridge, died January 9, 2005, in Breckenridge.
Services will be January 11, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Hamlin, with Rev. Cecil Harper and Donny Harbers officiating.
Born September 13, 1911, in Aspermont, Joe was a son of the late Joe H. and Fannie Mae Flowers Hudspeth.
He attended school in Aspermont and graduated from Peacock High School.
Joe served three years in the United States Air Force as a ground crew member during W. W. II, and spent two years overseas.
He married Emrarene Harper in 1941, in Wichita Falls, and they enjoyed 64 wonderful years together.
He was a Baptist and joined the First Baptist Church in Breckenridge. Joe was ordained as a deacon at Denman Baptist Church in Lufkin. They moved to Hamlin and were member of the First Baptist Church, where he served on the finance committee, and taught Sunday School for several years to 12 year old boys.
He was a director of the Hamlin National Bank from 1972to 1984, and also served on the Hamlin Hospital Board, and was a trustee of the Hamlin ISD. Joe was a member o the Hamlin Rotary Club.
He worked for Conoco Oil Company or several years, and later owned 6 Goodyear and GE Appliance stores in Stamford, Hamlin, Munday, Haskell, Sweetwater, and Breckenridge. Joe owned some of the appliance stores for over 50 years. They moved to Breckenridge in 2002.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Emarene Hudspeth of Breckenridge; 2 daughters - Jorene Richey and husband John of Breckenridge and Glenda Willoughby of Hamlin; one brother L. G. Hudspeth of Mineral Wells; 4 grandchildren - Johnna Reynolds and Stephen of Paducah, Trey Richey and wife Hayley of Gail, Harper Willoughby of Dallas, and Andrew Willoughby of Hamlin; and 6 great grandchildren.
