Joan was an only child, she graduated from Falls High School in International Falls, attended Luther College and the University of Minnesota. She worked at Donaldson's downtown and other downtown locations and live by herself in an apartment by the Art Institute for over 40 years. She was a master of mass transit, had friends all over the city. After being quarantined with Covid, she decided to join some friends at a senior living in Eden Prairie but she missed her city life. She died after a short illness.
