Funeral services for Marvin Q. Hunt, age 87, of Gary, SD will be at 2 PM on February 2, 2007 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary, SD with the Rev. Bruce Mueller officiating. Marvin passed away on January 28, 2007 at a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Marvin was born on November 18, 1919 at Albee, SD to John and Anna (Lau) Hunt. He was baptized in Nassau, MN. He attended school in Grant County, SD until moving to Moritz, SD where he attended Deuel County District #33. Marvin was confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary on July 8, 1934 and was a member there until his death. He married Mable H. Musch on March 28, 1941 in the Lutheran Parsonage at Canby, MN. Marvin farmed near Moritz his entire life. He was clerk for the Moritz School, worked elections for many years, and hauled drinking water to Moritz school for the students. He enjoyed fishing with his family, breaking horses to drive, and working cattle and other livestock. He was a patient, gentle man. Marvin liked to visit abut the good old days. In his later years, he enjoyed helping on his sons' farms. Marvin made wooden toys; bundle wagons, hay racks, stackers and bobsleds. He served on the church council for many years. He was a member of the Gary Historical Society and the Gary Development Corporation.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Mable, of Gary; three sons, Darold and his wife, Mary, and Darwin and his wife, Delores, all of Gary, and David and his wife, Brenda, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren ; and one sister-in-law, Judy Hunt of Mora, MN. he was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a granddaughter, Sherry Hunt-Miller; three sisters, Marguerite (Carl) Hanson of Isanti, MN; Idella (Randy) Stonke of Crystal, MN and Hilda (Elmer) Rehder of Gary, SD and two brothers, Clifford (Helen) Hunt of Marshall, MN, and Herbert Hunt of Mora, MN.
