Gary Wayne Lachmiller passed away on October 10, 2023 at the age of 77. He was born May 19, 1946 to Harry & Elsie Lachmiller in Good Thunder, Minnesota. Confirmed and baptized at St. John Lutheran Church. He married Rosene on February 14, 2004

Gary served in the US Army from 1966-1972. In 1966, Gary was stationed at The White House, Washington, DC in 1966 (communications). In 1967, he went to Montevideo, Uruguay, then flew back to Austin with LBJ in Air Force One. Upon returned, he was ordered to LBJ Ranch, Stonewall. He left active duty, 1969. Worked for Knopp & Metzger, 1971-1974 Worked for UPS from 1974-2008 (retirement)

Gary enjoyed country and gospel music, dancing and spending time with his family and friends. The Last Road to Texas band formed in the late 1970's and toured Central Texas and the Hill Country in the 80's and 90's. Last Road to Texas band members included, Gary, piano; Jim Bob Stevens, singer and bass guitar; Boyd Harper, guitar; Roy Saenger, drums; and Scott Crofts, pedal steel guitar. They played Pat's Hall, Turner Hall, the VFW, Oktoberfest and Kerrville venues, among other venues. The band song list included classic and popular country and rock hits. They opened for George Strait, Conway Twitty, Asleep at the Wheel and Fiddlin' Frenchy Burke. Gary also played at various venues in Fredericksburg with the Raggedy Cats Band, Gavin Eckert Band, and the gospel band at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Rosene Lachmiller, children; Rick Lachmiller wife Cindy, Jody Lachmiller Ladd husband Nathan, Jonathan Lachmiller, Polly Priess husband Glenn, Tammy Ramsey, Doug Ramsey wife Melonie, Jodie Kneese husband Todd; Grandchildren; Dylan Lachmiller, Jessica Peese (Justin), Drew Crenwelge (Carla), Cody Crenwelge, Anissa Netherland (Cameron), Troy Kneese, Karlie Ramsey, Caroline Ramsey; Great Grandchildren Haigen Peese, Dan Crenwelge, Charlie Crenwelge.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Elsie Lachmiller and his son Randy Lachmiller.

Visitation will be on Sunday October 15, 2023 from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. in the Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be on Monday October 16, 2023 at 11:00a.m. in the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery.
