Winifred Rose Martindale Shields, 68, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. She was a resident of Franklin, IN.

She was born to Wendell and Johnie "Sally" McMurry Martindale on May 23, 1937 in Marion Co., IN. She married James W. Shields on August 11, 1956. He survives.

Winifred graduated Southport High School, Marion Co., Indianapolis in 1955. She had been proprietor of Raspberry Patch Beauty Salon in Franklin, IN.

Other survivors include sons Hugh Shields of Venice, FL; James Shields II (Cindy) of Indianapolis; Joe Shields (Jasmine) of Franklin; daughters Cynthia (Gary) Webb of Nineveh, and Beth Peters of Franklin. Also surviving are grandchildren Laura and DJ Evinger of Kenosha, WI, Melissa and Rebecka Shields of Plainfield, Ryan, Kelly, Diane and Hannah of Nineveh, Katellyn, Allison and Aubrey of Indianapolis, Kaleb and Kylie of Franklin; three sisters, Shirley (Ralph) McClure, Martha Butts, and Margaret (Cliff) Trowbridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Patricia Wright and one great-granddaughter Madison Christine Shields.

Services were conducted Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin with interment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
