James Earl Goad, 78, of Cartersville, GA and formerly of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Tuesday, October 10th, surrounded by his family.

James Earl was born in Louisville, KY on February 26, 1945, a son of the late Juanita (Wood) and Wayne Edward Goad.

On February 13, 1993, he married Wanda (Ryherd) Goad in Livingston, TN.

James Earl graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1963 and then went to Lindsey Wilson College. He worked at his family's business of Tompkinsville's Sears Store and Glass Company. Twenty-eight years ago he decided to change paths and attended John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, GA, and he became a criminal defense attorney at his own law firm, The Law Office of James E. Goad. James Earl enjoyed horses, politics, and the lake.

James Earl is survived by his wife, Wanda Goad, of Cartersville, GA; two daughters, Donya Dicken, of Irwin, KY and Dyshel Thompson, of Tompkinsville, KY;
a son, Dyrayll Goad, of Oregon; a step daughter, Christy Flatt, and husband, Sonny,of Glasgow, KY; three step sons, Brian Turner, and wife, Joy, of Tompkinsville, KY; Johnny Turner, and wife, Julie, of Smiths Groves, KY and Kerry Turner, and wife, Keri Beth, of Tompkinsville, KY; five grandchildren, Landon Dicken, and wife, Lora, John Isham Dicken, Trea Thompson, Hudson and Quince Goad; and two great grandchildren, Lilah Dicken and Eleanor Dicken, and nine step grandchildren, Payne Flatt, Graycen Flatt, Johnathan, Justin, Jayce, Jade Madison, Keeton, Kale and Ella Turner.

James is also survived by a sister, Belita Goad and husband, Walker, of Bowling Green, KY.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Darlya Goad.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY, with burial to follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.

Visitation is Thursday, 3-8 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
