Olga Etoy Morris Chapman went to be with her Savior on October 7, 2023 at the age of 87.
Etoy was born December 30, 1935 to Harpie and Oleta Morris in Hardeman County, Texas in a boxcar (yes, a train boxcar). She graduated from Chillicothe High School and attended nursing school in Wichita Falls. She married John Louis Chapman on December 31, 1955. The couple spent most of their married life at their home on Louisa in Iowa Park, where they raised four children, and celebrated countless birthdays, holidays and anniversaries.
Etoy, known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Nonnie, was a talented artist, sewist, and a servant to her community. She volunteered at the Friendly Door, where she exemplified Christ's love by caring for the elderly in her community. She continued this service well into her 80s through Good Morning Iowa Park, where she called shut ins in her community. She was active in her church and acted as a grandmother to far more than the 12 in her family.
Her family and friends could fill a book with the stories of life with her. From sewing and painting lessons, to devouring watermelon in the kitchen, to pinched legs if you squirmed at church, they will cherish each memory. And no one could remember Nonnie without remembering the pictures. She captured every moment possible long before iPhones or social media existed. She ensured that memories would last.
Etoy was preceded in death by her husband John Chapman; parents Oleta and Harpie Morris; her son Brent Chapman; her brothers Bobby Frank, Ronald, Dean, and Doyle Morris; her sister LaNeta McClain; her sister-in law Nina Morris; her brother-in-law Earl Tarbet; and three infant grandchildren: Rebecca Chapman, Cody Chapman, and Baby Chapman.
She is survived by three children: son John Louis Chapman II & Lee of Nacogdoches, son Kent Chapman & Michelle of Iowa Park, and daughter Jtoy & Scott Toller of Trophy Club. She is also survived by sister Kitty & Richard Umstot, sister Cecilia Morris, brother-in-law Gene McClain and sister-in-law Norma Tarbet. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Services will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park at 2:00 pm on October 21, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Faith Baptist Church or the Friendly Door of Iowa Park.
For those unable to attend the service, it will be streamed online at https://www.faithbaptistip.com or via the church app.
