Elmer John Parton, 82, was born to Charlie and Maggie (Parks) Patron.

Mr. Parton was a World War II veteran, having received the Purple Heart and other medals. He was wounded, after four years of service, in the Philippines.

He was a trustee of the Tomahawk Baptist Church at St. Joe. He was a construction worker and a Tyson employee.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Mae Parton, of Omaha; two sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Linda Parton of Tomahawk, and Larry W. and Lita Parton of Harrison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and David Scoggins of Malvern, and Pamela and Daniel Henley of Benton; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Elmer John Parton, 82, of Omaha, Ark., died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Omaha.
He was born April 2, 1919, in Pine Top, Mo., to Charlie and Maggie (Parks) Patron.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Mae Parton, of Omaha; two sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Linda Parton of Tomahawk, and Larry W. and Lita Parton of Harrison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and David Scoggins of Malvern, and Pamela and Daniel Henley of Benton; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, two sisters, and a grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. today at Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at First Baptist Church in Omaha, with the Rev. Larry Markum and the Rev. Harry McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in the Omaha Methodist Cemetery, under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tim Parton, Billy Henley, Jason Johnson, Davis Brissette, Jason Parton, Matt Parton, Brett Cochran, Loy Frazier, Brandon Doddridge, and Josh Jaramillo. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Richey, Henry Warren, Quentin Middleton, Harley Thomason, Steve Mueller, Ernest Leatherman, Marcus Jones, Tim Youngs, Devoe Taylor, Dr. Blake Chitsey, Mandy Hudson, and Earl Still.
