He was born on May 7, 1928 in Utica a son of the late Edward and Martha (Rieben) O'Connor and was educated at Whitesboro schools. Ray proudly served his country in the US Naval Reserves. He was united in marriage to Rosemarie Kemnitzer at Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica, and shared a blessed union of over 65 years. Ray was employed as a lineman, cable spliceman and service technician with NY Telephone and later with AT&T in Utica until his retirement in 1991. He was a founding member of the CWA Local 1126, New York Mills.
Ray was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a jack of all trades and always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need, no matter what the time was. Ray always kept himself busy tinkering with something and he managed to keep everything, no matter how big or small.
