Mrs. Mintia Ann Tobler Knowles, age 82 of Ararat, VA passed away peacefully on Saturday morning October 7, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Carroll County on August 10, 1941, to the late Crockett Jordan Tobler and Mary Deli Easter Tobler. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed. Ann (Granny) is survived by two daughters, Traci Sawyers and fiancé David Hamm, and Teresa Sawyers and fiancé Brian Martin; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Raymond and Patricia Knowles, Richard and Diana Knowles; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, J. M. Tobler, and Lincoln and Lora Tobler; special friend, Tina Crouse; her special dogs, Trouble and Albert; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Knowles was preceded in death by her husband, David Early Knowles; sisters, Ina Beasley and Novaline Webb; two brothers, Orfie Tobler and Melvin Tobler; a son-in-law, Herbert Sawyers. A memorial service will be held on Sunday October 15, 2023, at Gospel Chapel in Laurel Fork at 5:00 pm with Pastor Winston Puckett and Pastor Kelly Haynes officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Woltz Hospice Home for all of the love and support shown to Ann and her family during her illness.
