"CARTHAGE -- Services for Earl I. Mayfield, 82, of Carthage will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Burnaman officiating. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carthage.

Mr. Mayfield died Friday morning at his residence after a sudden illness. He was a retired real estate salesman and a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage. Mr. Mayfield was a native of Blount Springs, Ala., and lived in Carthage six years.

Survivors include his wife, Maudie Bell of Carthage; a daughter, Mrs. Tommie Ruth Robbins of Monrovia, Calif.; three sons, Millard of Gilmer, Vernon and Michael, both of Houston; a half-sister, Mavis Bird of Beckville; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews."
