Mr. Mayfield died Friday morning at his residence after a sudden illness. He was a retired real estate salesman and a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage. Mr. Mayfield was a native of Blount Springs, Ala., and lived in Carthage six years.
Survivors include his wife, Maudie Bell of Carthage; a daughter, Mrs. Tommie Ruth Robbins of Monrovia, Calif.; three sons, Millard of Gilmer, Vernon and Michael, both of Houston; a half-sister, Mavis Bird of Beckville; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews."
