Mrs. John H. Beckos Called By Death
Like a bolt from a clear sky came the news last Monday evening of the sudden death of Mrs. John H. Beckos, a well known resident of this city, following an illness of but short duration. Her illness was not taken seriously by either herself or members of the family and her sudden passing has cast a pall of gloom over the entire community. Heart trouble was the contributing cause of death, an ailment from which she had suffered more of less for several years past. She had been taken ill earlier in the day and during the afternoon was confined to her bed. She had been restless and after receiving a drink of water from Mr. Beckos she lay back and appeared to be resting and nothing was thought about it until a neighbor woman came to see how she was getting along and discovered that life had been extinct for some time, she having passed away without a murmur or struggle of any kind.
Mary Toregerson was born near Ashby, Minn., on June 23, 1873, and had she lived until next Wednesday she would have rounded out her fifty fourth year. She grew to womanhood at that place and on May 28, 1898 was united in marriage to John H. Beckos. To this union were born five children, four of whom survive. They moved to Montana in 1915 and took up their residence on a claim about ten miles north of town where they continued to make their home until a few years ago when they moved to town.
Funeral arrangements have been completed for Friday afternoon at 2:30 when services will be held at the Lutheran church, of which the deceased had been a life-long member, Rev. Field officiating, and the remains will be interred in the cemetery, east of town.
The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sorrowing family in their bereavement.
