Manda Othilda (Tussem) Isakson married Jorgen Peter Isakson on September 15, 1900 at Pelican Rapids, Minnesota and they lived on a farm at Rothsay, MN. before coming to Montana.

The family of Jorgen Peter Isakson and Manda Othilda (Tussem) Isakson consisted of 11 children:

Mable (Isakson) Westby
Peter Isakson
Joseph "Joe" Isakson
Olena (Isakson) Uebers
Melvin Isakson
Othilda (Stellflug) (Isakson) Blatter
Nora Isakson
Myrtle (Isakson) Fagan
Ingval Isakson
Oscar Isakson
Bertha (Isakson) Williams

In 1912 Jorgen and 3 friends decided to go west to see about homesteading and they landed 7 miles north and west of Opheim, Montana in the Roanwood community. Jorgen and his friends all built a shack on their property and then winter was setting in so he went back to Rothsay to be with is family for the winter. The spring of 1913 Jorgen and Manda loaded the cows, chickens, horses, buggy and house hold items along with 6 kids, Mabel 12, Peter 10, Joe 8, Olena 6, Melvin 4 and Tillie 2 on the train headed for Glasgow, MT. They arrived and then had the trip 60 miles north and west of Glasgow, with everyone but the youngest walking most of the way.

5 more children joined the family as the years went by, Nora, Myrtle, Ingval, Oscar and Bertha. None of the Isakson's spoke English so the first teacher they had, had to start the whole family learning English as they all spoke Norwegian. They attended the Roanwood, Meyers and Pleasant View country schools.

Jorgen and Manda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 4, 1950 with all the children and grandchildren and many of the relatives from MN coming. Ingval came home from the service and they turned over the farm to him and he bought them a house in Opheim and they retired.

Manda really enjoyed living in town, having running water and a bathroom and going up town with her daughter Mabel for coffee.

Jorgen died in Nov. of that year and Manda continued living in Opheim until her death July 12, 1953. They are both buried at the Lawndale Cemetery along with Jorgen's brother Peter, their son's Melvin, and Oscar and their wives and daughters Mable and Othilda (Tillie) and their husbands and some of the grandchildren and Great and Great Great Grandchildren.
