Hallie Harris Childress, 97, Lenoir passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation in Boone.
She was born February 28, 1926 in Surry County to the late CharlesHarris and Mollie Durham.
She was also preceded by her husband, Marshall Bryant "MB" Childress; Jr.; three sons, Roger Dale Childress, Donnie Marshall Childress and Lonnie Scott Childress; two daughters, Yolanda Gay Childress and Brenda Carolyn Saunders; two grandchildren, James Bryant Saunders and Gary Dale Phillips; siblings, Ernest Russell Harris, James Hardin Harris, Ruby Pauline Harris and Hazel Harris Jenkins.
She was a charter member of Whitnel First Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, Ronnie (Patricia) Childress; daughters, Sandra Childress and Jane Childress Phillips; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Whitnel First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Stuart White and Rev. Steve Hedgecock.
Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
