Owen F. Rice, 83 RIDGEVILLE - Owen F. Rice, 83, formerly of Ridgeville, passed away Friday morning, March 2, 2007 at Beverly Living Center, Muncie, after having recently moved there. He was born December 5, 1923, in Cole Co., MO to Goldie (Scott) and Owen F. Rice, Sr. Owen was a heavy equipment operator for over 50 years before retirement. He worked on cross country pipeline here and overseas for International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150.
He was also a United States Army veteran, having served in France during World War II. His involvement in social organizations includes the F.O.E. Lodge, Portland, and Moose Lodge #33, Muncie. He was a gold card lifetime member of I.U.O.E. Local 150, and was a lifetime member of both the V.F.W. and D.A.V. Owen was a charter member of American Legion Post 507, Ridgeville.
Family members include his daughter, Loretta Dollar (husband: Randy), Ridgeville; a brother, Lester Rice, Milton/Freewater, OR.; a sister, Shirley Miller, California, MO.; a granddaughter, Ashley Dollar, Ridgeville; 3 nephews; and special friend & caregiver, Earldene, Ridgeville. His parents; and a sister, Evelyn Bull, are deceased. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
