OBITUARY: Herald-Democrat, Sherman TX, 22 Oct 2007 (Mon)
Helen Mae Dodson -Anderson, passed away Peacefully on Sunday morning, October 21, 2007 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX. She was born March 8, 1925 in Nobility, TX, to George Luther Dodson and Mary Ellen Butler- Dodson . She married Calvin Melton Anderson, January 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lum Henry Dodson and R. Lee McBroom Sr.
During her early years, she and her beloved husband, Melton, owned and operated a dairy farm before moving to their farm near Randolph. Up until her death, she maintained her farm and cattle. Mrs. Anderson was employed at Bonham Manufacturing Corporation for 18 years and then retired after working at Sassy Rags in Bonham. Helen was a devoted member of the Seventh and Main Baptist Church and Ruth Sunday School Class in Bonham.
Helen is survived by her son, Gary Anderson and wife Linda, daughter, Barbara Anderson-Atchley and husband J.D. of Honey Grove. Helen was a beloved grandmother of Tammy Woods and husband James of Honey Grove, Anthony Anderson and wife Brandi of Lawton, OK, Aaron Anderson and wife Tammy of Bonham, Randy Atchley and wife Ginger of Honey Grove and Brett Atchley and wife Judy of Boyd, TX, 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Helen was also survived by her loving sister Birdie Lou Sewell and husband Leeman of Bonham, brother, James Dodson of Bull Head City, NV, sister-in-laws, Faye Anderson of Randolph and Jean Dodson of Las Vegas, NV, as well as several nieces, nephews and host of friends.
Services will be held at The Seventh and Main Baptist Church, Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. and burial will follow in the family plot at the Randolph-Lindsey Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until service time
The services are under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be nephews, David Hembree, Richard Sewell, Duaine Kincade, Sean Anderson and friends Larry Pratt, Mike Keene, Jerry Hale and Gary Moreland. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of The Seventh and Main Baptist Church and nephews Lynn Kincade, Larry Lane Reynolds, Jackie Mullinex, James Kincade, David McBroom and Lee McBroom and friends Larry Cline, Bob Edwards, Larry Renfro and Clarence Brewer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Seventh and Main Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
