Benjamin Seth "Ben" Petry, 34, of North Vernon, passed away on November 30, 2021. Born February 19, 1987, in Batesville, he was the son of David Scott and Pamela Sue (Day) Petry.
He married Jessica (Payne) Petry on March 26, 2021, in Bartholomew County.
Ben graduated from Jennings County High School in 2005 before attaining his Associates degree in conservation law from Vincennes University in 2008. He went on to work as a corrections officer at the Henry County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Henry County Honor Guard and enjoyed hunting deer, squirrels, mushrooms, and arrowheads; grilling; cooking; flint knapping; fishing; gardening; and music.
He is survived by his parents; wife; son, Jayden Thompson of Lewisville; daughters, Cora Petry, Isabelle Petry, and Josie Petry, all of New Castle; brothers, Jacob (Katie) Petry of North Vernon, and Josh (Deb) Petry of Abingdon, Virginia; sisters, Heither (Wayne) Petry of Anderson and Rachel (Joe Cruz) Petry of McCordsville; grandmother, Constance Day of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman Day and Jack and Mary Helen Petry.
A funeral service for Ben will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.
