The following is by the original creator of this memorial, Lisa Franklin: JH McPeeters died July 18, 1879 in his 65th year. This marker is located in a crypt/brick type enclosure and is very overgrown. You'd have to know it was there to even know to look for it--I found it by accident when surveying/photographing this cemetery on a trip from Houston to Coleman TX in April of 2008.

By Sally Anderson Goodson, great great granddaughter of James Harvey McPeeters: The stones around his grave were placed there in 1884 by his son-in-law, George Washington Lewis. George and his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Polly" McPeeters Lewis moved to New Mexico that year. George built the stone walls before they left Texas.
