Leland M. Olson, 83, of Sloan, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at UnityPoint Health-St. Lukes, Sioux City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Richard Moore, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Leland's obituary. Burial will follow in the Fairview Township Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Leland M. was born January 28, 1940 in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Lily (Findeisen) Olson. He was raised near Albaton on a farm. He attended Sloan High School and graduated with the class of 1958.

Leland and Donna Lee Clayton were united in marriage in 1959. To this union they had three children, Steven, Pamela, and Gary. The couple later divorced. Leland married Angie Guthridge in 1989 and she had two children, John and Shelly. The couple later divorced.

Leland worked for Meyer Beef in Sioux City, Iowa, for a few years. He was a farmer all his life. In the off season of farming Leland would drive truck for various trucking companies. He was a fan of being able to see the country and enjoy the peace and quiet on the road.

He enjoyed soduko and watching jeopardy. Leland also liked to feed the birds and squirrels outside of his home. He enjoyed deer hunting with his family and friends along the river in the Albaton area.

Leland was a past Deacon of the Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa.

Survivors include his children, Steven Olson of Sloan, Iowa, Pamela Pomranky of Sloan, Iowa, and Gary (Debbie) Olson of Villisca, Iowa; grandchildren, Justin Olson of Sioux City, Iowa, Garrett Olson of Salix, Iowa, Amber (Christian) Hobbs of Salix, Iowa, Devin (Colleen) Pomranky of Florence, South Carolina, Derrick (Jenn) Pomranky of Bourbonnais, Illinois, and Halee (Trevor) Holbrook of Ankeny, Iowa; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Terri Olson of Hickory, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lily (Findeisen) Olson; and brothers, Larry Olson, and Bernard Olson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Leland's memory to the Sloan Museum, 417 Evans Street, Sloan, Iowa, 51055.
