"Resident Spotlight – Dorothy Kirk (Dot).

Dot, a native of Alabama, was one of seven children and the oldest girl. She left school after completing the 6th grade so that she could take care of her siblings and father after he became ill. Her father passed away when she was twelve years old, so she took on the responsibility of raising her siblings. She was married at 16, and had three children of her own. Although her husband was absent most of their marriage, family was one of her greatest joys.
Dot found peace in reading her Bible, and working quilts in her large sewing room. She enjoyed making them to give as gifts to her neighbors, church members, and those in need. She moved to Fort Oglethorpe in the 70s where she attended Clearview Baptist Church, and loved spending time singing in the choir. She accepted the gift of salvation when she was only 12, despite the hardships she had endured.
Dot was selected as our spotlight resident because of her glowing personality. She has endured so much, but has not allowed it to make her cold or hard. She is friendly, and always looking for ways to help others and get involved however she can. Dot is a true joy and inspiration to those that know her. We are so blessed to have her in our Rosewood family!"
