Dover-Foxcroft - Everett C. Severance, 87, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2023, with family by his side. He joins his beloved wife of 47 years, Sarah (Steadman), in eternity, whom has been patiently awaiting his arrival since her passing in 2004.

Everett was born March 10, 1936, to the late Everett W. and Miriam (Pratt) Severance and spent his childhood years in Sebec, Maine. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America at Foxcroft Academy, from where he graduated High School. He and Sarah were married on September 10, 1957, and remained in Dover-Foxcroft to raise their family.

A devoted and loving father, Everett is survived by his children, Mari-Jo (husband John) Hedman of Fort Fairfield, Maine, and Carl (wife Debbie) Severance of Marlboro, Massachusetts. He was a very proud grandfather to James, Brittany, Brendan, and Kaitlyn and always had a twinkle in his eye whenever his great grandchildren – Sarah, Aubrey, Mattie, Meredith, Lenora and Oakley – came to visit. Perhaps that mischievous twinkle, his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor are what his many surviving family members and friends will miss the most.

Everett began work at the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and worked for a period of time at Guilford Woolen Mill, but the majority of his career was spent at Moosehead Manufacturing Co. He was an avid hunter and outdoor enthusiast who had an extreme fondness for Mt. Katahdin and enjoyed endless walks in the woods all across Maine. Everett was a kind and generous neighbor to everyone he met, always willing to lend a hand as an all-around Mr. fix-it. He had a soft spot for small animals and always had a pet rabbit or cat to keep him company, many of which were rescued from shelters or the side of the road. He will be remembered for the big heart he graciously shared with all those around him.

Please join Everett's family at Lary Funeral Home in Dover-Foxcroft on Saturday, October 14th at 1:00 PM for a service and sharing of memories of Everett's life. A short, graveside committal service will follow at Gray Cemetery, along with a reception at United Methodist Church in Dover-Foxcroft. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Animal Orphanage of Old Town, Maine in Everett's memory. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
