In 1921, his parents and John together with two siblings, returned to Poland. John grew up on a farm near Mielec, Poland. In 1935, John came back to the U.S. He lived and worked in New York City, where he met and married his loving wife, Sophia Giermanska .
They observed their 67th wedding anniversary on July 22nd. John served in the CCC Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression, working at camps in Utah, doing reforestation projects. In 1942, John, his wife and son, Ray, returned to Toledo, where they made their home in the Polish Village area.
He was a longtime parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. John worked 31 yrs. for the Doehler-Jarvis Co. retiring in 1973. He was a strong and muscular guy that no one chose to fool with. John was a great role model for his four sons, Ray, John, Jr., Jim and Tom. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. John always had a joke or funny story for every occasion. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, tinkering in his workshop, gardening, raising wine grapes, and making delicious Polish kielbasa. John 's greatest gift was to be able to show his love in many unspoken ways. He will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew him. Goodbye John.
