As shown on the 1880 census:
age 78, living with his son Horatio Sharp
"Another very noted old man, yet living is Robert Sharp. He was born in Feb. 1803 in Wayne Co. Ky. His father served with Gen. Francis Marion during the Revolution. Uncle Bob, as he was familiarly called, came to this state in 1812, and grew up with the state. He was very fond of hunting and many deer, bear and panther fell before his old flintlock. He can yet tell about dancing on the "puncheon floor" {when each fellow kept his own puncheon} with the "gals" dressed in deer skin dresses. He gave three sons to the late war, two of them never returned. He is one of the most entertaining conversationalists in the county; his mind is clear and his memory good." This would be Robert Sharp who married Sarah Wells and is also a brother to Horatio Sharp - thus being the son of William Sharp and Ruth Hines. So it does appear the Sharps came from Wayne Co. Ky. to Ind.

NOTE: His middle name Hines is sourced from LDS. SO FAR THERE IS NO CORROBORATIVE PROOF THAT HIS MIDDLE NAME IS HINES. [typo?] Hines/Hinds is his mother's maiden name; daughter of Joseph Hinds and Hannah Grider from Hunterdon, New Jersey.

This info in a letter to Mabel Rooks from Ruby Coleman dated 1973 and came from Biographical and Historical Souvenir For the Counties of Clark, Crawford, Harrison, Floyd, Jefferson, Jennings, Scott and Washington Ind. compiled and Published by John M. Gresham and Co. Chicago: Chicago Printing Co. 1889. There was in 1973 an unpublished Index to book by Leonard McKay of Ind.

From Sharp Genealogical Record at the Corydon, Indiana Public Library;
"Robert Sharp came to Indiana in 1812 and was born in Wayne County, Kentucky. Buried in Scott Township."
