Chico Record, Friday, April 25, 1947: "Mrs. Hazel Obert Dies. Mrs. Hazel Obert, 49, died Wednesday evening at Lymann [sic], Nebraska while visiting her sister there, Mrs. Bryant Eryngton. She is survived by her father, O.M. Dinnell [sic, should be Dinnel, Ed.] of Chico; four daughters, Mrs. Lowell Smith of Palo Alto, Mrs. Powell Serria Jr., Mrs. Clifford Thomas and Mrs. Henry Watton of Chico and two sons, Virgil and Earl Obert of Chico; eight brothers and sisters, 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. She was a member of the Chico Burial Society. Arrangements were made by the Nugent-Huddleston Funeral Service for the remains to be returned to Chico for services and interment."

Word was received here this morning that Mrs. Hazel Obert, 49, died last night at the home of her sister, Mrs. Bryant Eryngton, in Lymann [sic], Nebr. Mrs. Obert had left Chico on April 14 to visit her sister. Mrs. Obert is survived by her father, O.M. Dinnell, [sic] of Chico; four daughters, Mrs. Lowell Smith, of Palo Alto, and Mrs. Powell Serria Jr., Mrs. Clifford Thomas, and Mrs. Henry Watton, of Chico, and two sons, Virgil and Earl Obert of Chico. Also surviving are eight brothers, three sisters, 15 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be directed by Huddleston and Nugent."

Nathan McFarland, of the Broadway Mission, will officiate. Interment will be in the Chico Burial Society cemetery."

Roy Jefferies sang `Shall We Meet Beyond the River,' `Safe in the Arms of Jesus' and `In the Sweet Bye and Bye,' accompanied on the chapel organ by Mrs. D.D. Erwin. Interment was in the Chico Burial Society Cemetery."
