Mrs. Betty Jean Adams Allen, age 82, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia, following a brief illness.
She was a native of Montgomery County, growing up in Mt. Vernon, and was a 1959 graduate of Montgomery County High School. She lived in Mt. Vernon until moving to Vidalia in 1967. She worked at Ailey Manufacturing and Hazlehurst Manufacturing for many years and worked for fifteen years at Walmart in Vidalia. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Vidalia. Betty enjoyed baking cakes, going to Walmart and the mountains, and earlier in her life, photography.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harvey Lee Adams and Bernice Mercer Adams; and infant sister, Molly Elizabeth Adams; sister-in-law, Inez Delosh Adams; and niece, Sylvia Ann Adams.
Her family includes her husband of sixty-two years, Russell Allen of Vidalia; two brothers, Harvey "Junior" Adams and Robert "Reb" Adams, both of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Deborah Adams Hall and husband Rickey of Vidalia; numerous nieces and nephews, including Michell Lynn and husband Tripp of Rincon, Julie Adams of Ailey, Richie Hallman and wife Karen of Laurens County, Harvey Lee "Trey" Adams and wife Mallory of Ailey; and bonus family, Tripp Hallman, Wrenley Wampler, Westin Wamplar, and Jacey Thomas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. The funeral service will be Friday afternoon, September 29th, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will assemble at the residence of the sister, Deborah, 2400 Cadillac Drive, Vidalia.
