Edward "Steve" Copeland, 63, of Anderson, passed away peacefully with his son and brother at his side, after an extended illness.
He was born May 4, 1944, in Cairo, Ga., and had resided in Anderson since 1962.
Edward served honorably in the Vietnam War, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (rifle), Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He attended Anderson University upon his return from the service and went to work for General Motors, where he was employed for 30 years before retiring.
Edward enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, the horse track, traveling, music and the company of his family.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, John W. and Victoria Copeland; a brother, James (wife, Lawana) Copeland; a faithful and devoted son, Sean (wife, Donita) Copeland; four grandchildren, Shaunna Copeland, Darius Butts, Cartiae' Nunn and Tashi Copeland; and several nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by a good friend, Robert Davis.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff of ManorCare and the staff at Saint John's Hospital for his care.
Services will be held at noon Wednesday at Second Baptist Church, 230 W. 14th St., Anderson, with Pastor William O'Neil officiating. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
