Bill, Ada and their family lived on their 120 acre farm two miles east of Rome, Missouri while their children were growing up. In 1926, they sold their livestock, farm equipment and household goods and moved to Pottawatomie, Oklahoma, where they rented a farm. Their Missouri farm sold, four years later, in 1930. Shortly afterward they relocated to Reno, Kansas and continued farming there. After Ada's death, in 1947, Bill moved to Stafford County, Kansas and lived with his son Palmer and family. He visited Missouri often, staying with his daughter Ethel Flynn, for several months at a time.
