Carl A. Banks, 87, lifelong area resident, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 2, 2022 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

The son of Willis Samuel and Jewell Mabel (Woodrum) Banks, he was born October 19, 1935 in Hardesty, Oklahoma.

Carl and Vera Janelle Sluder were united in marriage on June 1, 1957 in Gruver, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2018.

Carl attended school in Hardesty graduating with the Class of 1953. He worked as advertising manager for Borger, Guymon and Liberal newspapers, retiring in 1970. He was also a gifted musician/pianist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janelle Banks; his parents, Willis and Jewell Banks; one sister, Mable Headrick; an infant brother, Willis Eugene Banks and daughter, Linda Gutierrez.

Survivors include two children: Brenda Kaiser of Guymon and Steven C. Banks of Goodwell; grandchildren: Rose Banks of Guymon and David Kaiser of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three great grandchildren: Jekorey, Ania and Jordan. Survivors also include two sisters: Lula Overstreet of Aurora, Colorado and Phyllis Banks of Amarillo, and two brothers: James Banks of Hardesty and Leslie Banks and wife, Ruby of Amarillo.
