Dorothy "Dottie" Louise Ernest, 82, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey. She was born on October 13, 1940, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Finis and Dorothy (Weber) Ernest.

Dottie lived at the Devereux Foundation in Pennsylvania for 38 before moving to Charlevoix permanently in 1994. She enjoyed her years living at the American House where she spent time with other residents especially playing cards. Dottie worked for many years in food service in the Charlevoix area at various restaurants. She will be dearly missed by many, especially her many friends from Christ Episcopal Church.

Dottie is survived by two sisters, Nancy (Jeffrey) Porter of Charlevoix and Mary Zipser of Savannah, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Charlevoix, where Dorothy will also be laid to rest.

Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
