SERVICES ARE HELD FOR BRUNER, LAST OF LIGHT HORSEMAN
WEWOKA,June 12 (Special) - Funeral services were held Thursday at Turkey Creek school in the north end of Seminole county for T.J. Bruner, 82, Negro, probably the last of the living Seminole Light Horsemen militia.
The aged man died last Friday in Moton municipal hospital at Tulsa. Rev. A.A. Jackson officiated at his services. Bruner was born near Konawa in the Seminole Nation in 1865. As a member of the Light Horsemen, it was his duty to help enforce law according to the Indian custom. He helped guard gold shipments which sometimes came in and performed military duty in the time of uprisings. He devoted the latter part of his life to farming and stock raising.
