Elizabeth "Betty" Nolan a lifelong resident of the area died peacefully on December 30, 2022 with her family at her side. She was in her 100th year.

The daughter of the late Wendell E. Phillips and Hazel Billett Phillips, she was born on April 12, 1922 in Port Jervis.

A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA Betty would return home to teach and retire from the Port Jervis School District. Betty was a longtime devoted member of the Deerpark Reformed Church, having served on the Consistory, as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and the League for Service. She was the former President of the Port Jervis Girl Scouts Council and the Port Jervis Community Club. Teacher and trainer for Literacy Volunteers of America and Antique Club member. In her latter years Betty sat on the Board of Directors for Laurel Grove Cemetery of which her decendants help start its inception.

In addition to her parents Betty was predeceased in life by her husband T. Kenneth Nolan, brothers Wendell and Almarin Phillips.

Survived by her son Thomas K. Nolan Jr with his wife Beverly of FL and Suzanne Bracken with her husband Thomas of NJ. Grandmother of Thomas K. Nolan III with his partner Kim, Phillip C. Nolan with his wife Sarah, Michael T. Bracken with his wife Lindsay, Tyler Hawley with her husband Trevor and Britany Weaver. Great grandmother to Gabriela, John, Collin, Aubrie, Campbell, William, Chase and Cooper.

A private graveside interment will take place this week at Laurel Grove Cemetery in the Family Plot. A public memorial prayer will be offered at the grave on Saturday 1/7/23 1:30PM Laurel Grove Cemetery.
